Micah Ofstedahl is an acrylic painter based in Ashland, Oregon, known for what he calls "altered realism." He paints hyper-realistic landscapes, then disrupts them with glassy, translucent distortions that ripple through land and sky like hidden currents of space and time. Trained in sculpture and ceramics at Minnesota State University, Mankato, and inspired by Escher, Dalí and the biological illustrations of Ernst Haeckel, his work balances precision with wonder. Ofstedahl won Best in Show at Surreal Salon 15, has been featured in Juxtapoz and Hi-Fructose, and exhibits with galleries across the U.S.
