Using a color palette based on Novacentro's trademark lime-green tone, Fernando completed several wall-sized murals that beautifully complimented the modern industrial aesthetics of their office environment.

Ma Jolie in Milwaukee

It's a great pleasure to announce our first local partnership with Milwaukee fashion boutique Ma Jolie, located in the newly renovated Bayshore Mall Town Center. In the past few years Mohammed has found great success in France, Germany, Syria, Dubai and other locations throughout the middle east. We feel proud to have him choose Threyda as his first art connection here in the states. One of the first things we noticed about his work was the amazing fluidity, cohesion and attention to detail he pours into every inch of his paintings. While his style has shifted consistently as each year passes, this great display of craftsmanship has remained unchanged. We've got many great things in store from Mohammed, starting with our set of lightweight Pima hoodies featuring a series of specially made Threyda logos.

Mohammed was born in Iraq and now lives and works in Norrkoping, Sweden. An interview will follow shortly down the road as we get to know and discover more about this talented addition to our team of artists. Mohammed's official website can be found here: http://www.mohammed-art.com/

Wakeskating With Justin Forrest

Threyda's progression of art and style has begun to hit the streets and gain the attention of riders from the wake/skate and snow scenes from all over. We are stoked to announce the first division of Team Threyda; Threyda Wake. Our first team rider, up and coming wakeskater Justin Forrest is one chill dude, who loves wakeskating, and is doing great things for the sport.

For those of you unfamiliar with the sport of wakeskating, let us fill you in. Similar to Threyda, it also is a progression of art and style. Wakeskating has evolved since the mid 1990's when wakeboarders were removing their bindings, and replacing them with traction pads. This allowed riders to maneuver the board and pull off new skateboard style tricks. Over the past decade, wakeskating has grown tremendously, and the sport continues to gain exposure everyday. Team rider Justin Forrest continues to push the sport, and was recently nominated for trick of the year in 2009 with a hard flip down seminole gap. (st. petersburg florida)

We caught up with Justin in Winter Haven, FL to poke him a few times and ask pertinent questions.

Threyda: How did you get into wakeskating?
Justin: I've always lived on a lake and had been skateboarding for the longest time... got into wakeboarding for about a week... found out about wakeskating... picked one up the next day and the rest is history. Its funny because we went to play it again sports to see if they had any in stock and they were giving away a couple used ones for free... i took the pretty lime green one

Threyda: So... Are you a PRO wakeskater?
Justin: It depends on the situation... if I'm doing an interview no pro... if i'm talking to the blondie at or behind the bar... then yes, I'm pro as shit

Threyda: What would wakeskating be like on the moon? "spaceskating"?
Justin: Not sure if im comfortable answering this one

Threyda: How often do you ride? Is it hard to keep it up?
Justin: As much as I can... with work, school, not owning a ski or winch and having to rely on other peoples schedules its tough but i make it work

Threyda: Would you prefer to wakeskate with Water Moccasins, Alligators, or sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads?
Justin: Gators all day... they are just water bunnies

Threyda: What do you like to do besides wakeskating?
Justin: skate, skate, skate

Threyda: Whats your favorite part about wakeskating?
Justin: The part right after you pop a trick, especially down a big drop, and you are floating through the air pointlessly knowing you aren't riding away.

Threyda: What is some of your favorite music right now?
Justin: G Love & the Special Sauce, The Limousines, The Beer Rockets

Threyda: How many days do you go with out a shower?
Justin: I try and keep it around 3-4 days a week

Threyda: Tell everyone one thing about yourself that no one knows.
Justin: I did a shuv indy once

Threyda: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Justin: Chief

Threyda: Would you rather Kill a Cheetah that was attacking you and have it's baby cubs die or get maimed by the Cheetah but the cubs are so grateful that they become your loyal pets?
Justin: This caught me off guard... space shuttle?

We want to show our support to Justin and welcome him to the team, we will be announcing the launch of Team Threyda's Snow and Skate divisions in months to come.

Borisilicate Glass with Matt Entenmann

The thing we like best about this artform is that it is created entirely with fire. Using such a strong energy to manipulate, create and form something out of nothing. Things made with purely fire are inherently awesome, this much we know. Add some serious skill and creativity and you've got a deadly combination. It is an artistry that easily inspires the boundaries of materials.

We now have the ability to show this amazing glass to the rest of the world, thanks to the very talented Matt Entenmann. We look forward to Matt's future creations, and we assure you each piece is a one of a kind masterpiece.

Threyda: How did you get into blowing glass?
Matt: A couple of my friends were playing around with bead making equipment and they let me melt some glass. As soon as I got my hands on it I was hooked. When I realized that I could make money creating art I knew that I would never work a conventional job again.

Threyda: How long have you been working with borosilicate glass?
Matt: Almost 12 years now

Threyda: What's your favorite part about blowing glass?
Matt: The whole process of glassblowing is amazing. First I envision what I will create and then without ever touching the glass directly (glass blowing uses gravity, centrifugal force, marving and air pressure to achieve form) I shape the glass into the image in my mind. The best part is opening the kiln the next morning and examining the glass art that I have created.

Threyda: What's the hardest part?
Matt: Defeat. When I spend hours working on something to have it crack, or if there are imperfections that are evident and render the piece unmarketable or not to my standard.

Threyda: How would you describe your style?
Matt: I like to think of my style as a blend of contrasting colors and natural form.

Threyda: What inspires your art?
Matt: Nature along with the inspiring medium I work in.

Threyda: Who do you look up to most as a fellow artist?
Matt: Dale Chihuly, Robert Mickelson, Milon Townsend, Paul Stankard to name a few...

Threyda: What is it like touching your skin to an oxygen propane torch burning at several thousand degrees?
Matt: I try my hardest not to do that, but have been the victim of several torch bites. I guess I would say searing unforgiving pain.

Threyda: What would you like to see happen with the artistic glass community?
Matt: Increased local support for the arts and communication between artists to share techniques and ideas.

Threyda: Outside of your art what are some of your other passions?
Matt: My wife and two sons and Kung Fu San Soo, which I have practiced for 14 years. Martial arts and glass blowing have many similarities and compliment each other.

Threyda: Tell us something about yourself you probably shouldn't tell us, for the fans.
Matt: All my pets have theme songs which I sing to them.

Threyda: Would you rather own a lightsaber or the hoverboard from Back to the Future 2?
Matt: As cool as a lightsaber is, I don't plan on doing dueling any time soon and I bet the hoverboard gets good gas mileage!

And So The Story Begins..

Whats up everyone? Welcome to Threyda. This has been a long and challenging journey, and it's a great feeling to see all of the pieces of the puzzle coalesce into something we love, and hope you will grow to love as well. From the beginning we set out to raise the bar in the clothing industry and become a conduit for modern artistic talent from around the world. It's our promise to you that we will never offer anything that doesn't have an enormous amount of passion, time and thought behind it.

The word Threyda can mean many things, but to us it represents a new perspective on the threads we produce, and the individual lifestyles we create.

Last but not least, thank you to all of the people who graciously offered their insights and helpful hands in order to make this a success. We couldn't have done this without keeping an open mind and considering the thoughts and opinions of others. A special thanks to Fernando, Lawrence, Gatz and Matt for their artistic contributions from the start.
